Drawing a Day #39

It was another creative day for me spent with my awesome husband of 25 years, Simon, at our Winter Carnival. Unfortunately I didn’t get to do any sketching at the carnival (due to 2 soaking wet feet – note to self – avoid deep slushy areas). I got some great photos and met some very nice people.
I was too tired to work more on my Ballerina so I started this large (30×40″ ish) charcoal study of a Werner Bokelberg photo of Isabel Weingarten.
I love working with charcoal. It is so easy to modify and the softness you can achieve makes skin look alive.
Once I work out all the kinks I am going to transfer it to a 40×60″ canvas and do a Grisaille in oils. I can’t wait to get back to oil paints.
Thanks for looking!
